H&R Block

The Design Group

Project Background

Working in downtown Kansas City, and often interacting with other fellow designers that worked at neighboring companies and businesses, a fellow designer and I felt that the design teams at Block could lead the charge and provide a monthly design meetup for the Kansas City design community. Hosting the events at the centrally located headquarters, and utilizing the significant resources and contacts our internal contacts had for locating speakers and featured artists, we would provide a monthly networking and creative meetup where profound design talent and creative perspectives could speak, followed by a happy hour afterwards.

As the visual designer for the branding of this event series, I decided to research current design trends across channels, after receiving the design directives and two potential group names to work with: Arena, and Intersection KC.

Design directives: whimsical, sleek, and a playful, bold use of color.

Concept 1 : Arena

Moodboard, site (desktop), logotypes and site (mobile) layout.

Concept 2: Intersection KC

Site (desktop), logotypes and poster.
